Summer Fashion: The Demands Facing Those Heading On Holiday

There is nothing I look forward to than my yearly pilgrimage to a sunnier climate for lots of relaxation and sunbathing. Like it or not the British climate rarely meets any expectation which is why the summer holiday abroad is favored by so many but why is it that shopping for that perfect summer wardrobe is so hectic?

I've seen woman constantly roam around for their perfect summer wardrobe and naturally expect nothing less however lately I have seen many men and even found myself facing the immense pressure of being a holiday goer. You see, the whole point of a holiday is naturally to relax and unwind however there is an overwhelming expectation to look good at all times. Maybe it is down to all these celebrities constantly looking prim and proper or perhaps it is just a shift in the way we view ourselves but more and more men are facing the pressure to ensure they tick the fashion boxes even whilst on holiday.

Luckily a growing number of the leading menswear designers including my personal British favourites Oliver Sweeney and Eton shirts, have now begun to cater for the summer vacation. Naturally we cant have as much variety as women with their maxi dresses, bikinis and skirts but we can have variation in styles and colours. From brightly coloured and breathable polo shirts, to light wearing, yet smartly tailored jackets for the evening; summer style has never looked so good.

Mens swimwear is also on that list as the long running reign of the Speedo is under challenge from luxury swimwear brand Vilebrequin. Hailing from St Tropez, the Vilebrequin collection consists of a selection of plain or brightly coloured and printed shorts that are stylish, comfortable and incredibly durable, meaning that even in the pool we can now look catwalk ready!  Understandably we still have the same format of bottoms, tops and over layers but with such a huge variety of styles and colours there is no reason why any man can't meet those style demands. It is all about shopping around, researching options and trying something a little different. Opt for more colour, mix and match and try something you probably never normally would, whether that is a bright neon t shirt or a hat on the beach. Style is what you make it and although there are demands to look good and not just sit in those speedos all day, it is up to you what style you go for.
